Administrative Council, Campaigns and More…

Scholarship Committee

The Scholarship Committee functions to review annual scholarships and then select recipients for each award.  Awards are designated and given at the end of the academic school year.  Scholarships provide financial assistance to students to further their education and align to the criteria established by the parameters of the scholarship.  The committee is represented by volunteers who work with the youth of the church and are knowledgeable of the scholarship process.

Missions Team

The purpose of the Missions Team is to obey the Great Commission and the Great Commandment by (1) encouraging financial and prayer support of local, national, and internationally based missionaries and projects: (2) educating church members about mission work,

empowering church member participation occurring on a local, national, and international level; and (3) encouraging ministries of social justice within our community, state, and nation.

Membership

Coordinates membership and communications to maintain accurate records of those participating in the mission and ministry at First United Methodist Church. Membership works closely with all committees to coordinate communication and access to all services, worship studies, programs, and needs of the members.

The Administrative Council

The Administrative Council is a representative body of the church that includes members serving on every other committee of the church. The council meets once a month to review church operations, assess progress of annual goals, and provide for strategic plan development in a long-term vision. Leaders of each committee provide progress reports of their respective committees. The members of this council work closely with the Pastor, Staff and Board of Trustees.

Chair: Tina Shannon Benishek, church member for nearly 50 years

The Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees is a support ministry serving to maintain the grounds, buildings, and properties of the church, as well as supervise wills, trusts, etc. Trustees are legal and corporate officers of the church, and therefore have authority over legal matters of the church.

Staff-Parrish Relations Committee

The Staff Parish Relations Committee is a group of individuals that work hard to support our paid staff members. We prayerfully consider all changes that are proposed and provide a sense of understanding and guidance for each staff member. As liaisons, we connect, support, and communicate both with the SPRC Team as well as with our assigned staff. These connections have led us to develop an Employee Handbook that can provide a better sense of what is professionally expected of our staff, but also allows us to have a set of guidelines for benefits. The development of a handbook has come at the perfect time, as we’ve welcomed our new Administrative Assistant, Veronica, and Youth Leader, Rachael. This year we hope to provide additional support and development to our staff by challenging each person to develop both professional and specific personal spiritual goals. We give of our time to help support not only staff, but also to support our congregation. When our staff are spiritually fed and supported we can more easily see God’s message coming through. We can see Spiritual Gifts flourish and in turn we can act as God’s hands and feet to spread love in the church and throughout the world.

Generosity Team

This team is a support ministry serving to teach and encourage biblical stewardship practices within the church family. This team prepares and executes personal and corporate stewardship programs within the congregation.

The generosity team mission is to serve the core values of the First United Methodist Church through a focus and purpose to foster the spiritual discipline of generosity of our congregation. The team identifies and supports opportunities for the congregation to participate in a variety of generosity activities aligned with their respective talents, time, and service gifts.

Greeters & Ushers

This essential team of greeters and ushers is a vital part of the worship service as they help prepare people to grow closer to God. Ushers and greeters welcome everyone and set the tone for everyone’s personal experience with the church. They create a first impression that is a lasting impression. Additionally, they assure the orderly progress of the service and perform other duties during the service.

Technology Team

The technology team has the monumental task of effectively communicating the values, mission, beliefs and operations of the church to all people searching for their church connection, utilizing a variety of methods. This action will reach our community at in-person and Online worship services, church events and other gatherings designed to provide extensive information regarding our church operations. The use of technology to promote the church’s goals and enhance the worship experience supports the efforts to make disciples for Jesus Christ.
